This workshop takes a quick look at the history, theory, and practice of pinhole photography with an emphasis on the technical relationship between camera-making and image formation. Each participant will leave with a camera (made from one of several objects provided), an image made by that camera, and an understanding of how to make a camera out of anything at all.

About Instructor LIZ SALES:
Liz Sales worked as an Assistant Cameraman in major motion picture camera departments before returning to school to earn an MFA from the ICP-Bard Program in Advanced  Photographic Studies. Since graduating, she has maintained an active exhibition record and taught as a guest artist in graduate and undergraduate programs, as well as at the Sadie Nash After‐School Program. She is a weekly contributor to Conveyor Magazine’s blog: <blog.conveyormagazine.org> and life-long lover of handmade technology. Liz lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. 

About PHOTOVILLE:
Photoville (photovillenyc.org) is a new Brooklyn-based photo destination - a veritable village of freight containers transformed into temporary exhibition spaces, taking place this summer from June 22 to July 1, 2012.

Photoville will feature a feisty mix of exhibitions, lectures, hands-on workshops, nighttime projections, a photo dog run, a camera greenhouse, and a summer beer-garden with food trucks that will create a photography destination like no other.
